John L. Wehr, 76, of 1110 Patton Ave., died Wednesday, May 5, 1993, at Americana Healthcare Center of natural causes.

He was born Oct. 25, 1916, near Keota, son of John and Mary Sexton Wehr. He married Betty J. Dirks on March 24, 1944, in Cedar Rapids.

Mr. Wehr was employed by John Deere as a machinist for 43 years, retiring in 1979. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Janice Karsak of Derby, Kan.; two sons, Craig of Waterloo and Steve of Albia; five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Alice Hart of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, his twin, James E. and Keith.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at The Keams, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be given to the church.
