[Waterloo Daily Courier, Thursday, December 26, 1907, Waterloo, Iowa]

After an illness from pneumonia lasting only since last Monday, Mrs. Orvis H. Call died early this morning at her home, 3511 Jefferson Street.

Mary Adeline Brown was born at South Coventry, Conn., on April 14, 1829, and was twice married. Her first husband was Grant Goodnoh, to whom she was married in her native state, the family later locating in Illinois. Two sons — William and Henry Goodnoh survive from this marriage, but their address is unknown.

She was again married to Orvis H. Call in Illinois on June 24, 1860. Mr. and Mrs. Call and their children came to Iowa in 1875, settling in Waterloo and this city has since been their home.

Mr. Call survives with three children: Orvis W. Call, 1402 Jefferson Street, and Wilbur Call, 1001 Forest Avenue, Waterloo, and Mrs. Laura Brown of Rose Creek, Minnesota. These children were all present when death came. Eleven grandchildren survive this estimable woman.

Mrs. Call spent most of her time with her children while they were at home and found little time for outside diversions. Her neighbors speak most highly of her. In her youth she was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, but she had not actively associated with any religious denomination since coming to Iowa.
