Mrs. Sarah Wilma Howard Knowles, 70, died at 11:15 Friday morning in Ramus Convalescent Home at La Porte City. She had been ill with diabetes and had been a patient there since Aug. 9.

Sarah Wilma Glenn was born Nov. 23, 1885, at Plankington, S. D,, the daughter of David G. and Susanna V. Glenn. She moved to Allamakee County as a young girl.

On Sept. 11, 1906, she married George Henry Howard. The couple moved to Black Hawk County in 1925. Mr. Howard died, March 31, 1928. She, married Harry J. Knowles on Aug. 26, 1935, in Muscatine, Mrs. Knowles was a member of Easton Avenue Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband who lives at 3015 Kenyon Ave.; one daughter, Mrs. Ralph Parker, 1129 Sheffield Ave.; four sons, Merville G. Howard of La Porte City, Ralph I. Howard of Wayne St. in Maywood Addition; Harvey H. Howard of 659 Rooff Ave., and Benjamin D. Howard, 644 Rooff; Ave. There are also 17 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one, sister, Mrs. Elsie McGrady of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, one sister and two brothers.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Locke Funeral Home. The Rev. M. E. Mountain, Church of Christ pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the family lot at Poyner Township Cemetery.
