EVANSDALE - Betty L. Piercy, 69, of Sunrise Hill Care Center, Traer, formerly of Evansdale, died at the center Thursday, June 16, 2005, of natural causes.

She was born May 19, 1936, in Sauk Center, Minn., daughter of Raymond L. and Lucy Bellinger Francis. She married Alford King Piercy on Sept. 7, 1956, in Rover, Mo.

Mrs. Piercy was employed as the first cook at the Hickory House for 16 years, at Allen Hospital for more than eight years, and as a nurses aide at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab for seven years before retiring in 1995.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Raymond L. Dumire of Evansdale; a grandchild; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald R. Francis of Raymond; and two sisters, Judy J. Medd of Waterloo and Martha Sebetka of Traer.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Robert James Francis and Larry R. Francis.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Queen of Peace Parish, with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call from 8:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Garden View Chapel, Waterloo, is in charge of arrangements.
