Esther Wienhold (1925 - 2013)

Esther Ann Wienhold, 88, of Waterloo, passed away Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home surrounded by family.

Esther was a school teacher for 47 years, starting in a one-room school. She taught in Brandon, Independence, and retired in 1987 from Jesup Community Schools.

She was united in marriage to Leo Wienhold on May 21, 1945. They were married for 68 years.

Esther is survived by her husband, Leo; daughters Kathy Nilges (Delmar), Patricia Powell, Jean Stoddard (Brad), Toni Murphy (Dan) and Teri Sanger (Ed); son Ted Wienhold (Billie Jo); daughter-in-law Mary Wienhold; 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Wilhelmina Tuttle; three sisters; a brother; and a son, Trevor.

A memorial will take place at a later date. Iowa Cremation, Cedar Rapids, is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Cedar Valley Hospice.
