CEDAR FALLS -- Paul H. Thieman, 98, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

He was born Nov. 4, 1914, in Floyd County, son of Fred and Alma Ruth Gunderson Thieman. He married Clytell J. Wood on Feb. 22, 1942, in Waterloo. She died Dec. 18, 2009.

He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was employed in the shoe repair business in the metro area. He then worked for the city of Cedar Falls Street Department for 12 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls.

Survived by a sister, Grace Hindersman of California; and a brother-in-law, Cleon (Lorraine) Wood of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Sheeley.

Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Richardson Funeral Service assisted the family.
