WATERLOO - Helen D. Nolting, 94, of Waterloo, died Friday, April 1, 2005, at Friendship Village Health Center.

She was born May 12, 1910, in Hedrick, daughter of Wallace R. and Jennie Burdette Umbaugh. She married Otto W. Nolting on Aug. 22, 1935, in Waterloo. He died July 28, 1991.

Mrs. Nolting graduated from Hedrick High School and Iowa State Teachers College. She had taught at Logan Junior High School for 22 years, retiring in 1973.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. Eugene E. (Mary Ann) Nolting of Columbia, Md., and Robert W. (Leslie) of Seattle, Wash.; three grandchildren, John, Sarah and Adam Nolting; two great-grandchildren, Alex and Maggie Nolting; and a sister, Dorothy Stoffa of Ottumwa.

Preceded in death by an infant brother, Hampton Berdette.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Our Savior Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball.

Memorials may be directed to Friendship Village Auxiliary or the church.
