Emil Henry Jebe was born February 26, 1909 at rural LaPorte City, Black Hawk, Iowa to parents Jurgen Frederick Jebe and Theresa Arp Jebe, the first of their four children. He had a younger brother and 2 sisters.

Found in the 1910 census living at Monroe, Benton, Iowa: Jurgen F Jebe 33, Theresa Jebe 20, Emil Jebe 1 yr 2 mos.
Found in the 1915 - 1930 censuses living at Bruce, Benton, Iowa:
1915: Amile Jebe age 6.
1920: Jurgen Jebe 42, Theresa Jebe 29, Emil Jebe 11, Wesley Jebe 6.
1925: Jurgen Jebe 48, Therese Jebe 35, Alice K Jebe 1, Emil H Jebe 15, Wesley F Jebe 12, Ed Roeh 35.
1930: Jurgen F Jebe 53, Thelma Jebe 40, Emil H Jebe 21, Wesley F Jebe 17, Alice K Jebe 6 .
Found in the 1940 census at Ames, Story, Iowa, attending college: Emil H Jebe, age 31.

Emil served in the U S Army and fought in WWII. He had a B.S. and a Masters in Economics from Iowa State University and a PH. D. in Statistics from North Carolina State University. He was an associate professor.

Emil married Norma Lureen Rupprich (1910-1992).
He married Florence Sucher (d 2005).

Emil H Jebe died on May 18, 1996 at Rogers, Sebastian, Arkansas and was buried at the Westview Cemetery, La Porte City, Black Hawk, Iowa.

Obituary: Emil H. Jebe, 87, Rogers, Arkansas, formerly of Traer, Iowa, died May 18, 1996 at his home following an extended illness.
Survivors include his wife, Florence; sister Alice Fleischer, LaPorte City, Iowa; 2 stepsons and 2 stepdaughters. Memorial services will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church, Dysart, Iowa. Burial at the Westview Cemetery, La Porte City, Iowa.

News article: Jebe Fellowship: Emil Jebe was an associate professor in the Department of Statistics from 1949-1959. After his death in 1996, a fellowship was established to honor him. This fellowship is awarded to one graduate assistant each year. The current award is $3,000 in addition to a normal graduate assistantship.
