A. Ivan Mason, 66, of 2307 B. Avenue NE, a resident of Cedar Rapids 43 years, died Tuesday following a long illness.

Born October 31, 1904, at Reinbeck, he was married to Rhoda Blydenburgh June 19, 1925, at Waterloo.

He retired in 1964 after 41 years as a toll service supervisor for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Cedar Rapids, Crescent Lodge AF and AM, Cedar Rapids Consistory, El Kahir Shrine, Hawkeye chapter of the Telephone Pioneers, Iowa Archaeological Society and was a charter member of the National Campers and Hikers Assn. Mr. Mason also had been active in the Boy Scout movement.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Leon Gassmann, Annandale, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Albert R. Johnson of Waterloo, and a grandson.

Services: 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Congregational Church by the Rev. J. Richard Wagner. Cremation followed death. Private committal services will be held at the Elmwood Cemetery, Waterloo, at a later time. The family suggests that friends may, if they wish, donate to the First Congregational Church memorial fund.
