WATERLOO - Lloyd A. Vogt, 84, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at Cedar Valley Hospice after a lengthy illness with cancer.

He was born Nov. 2, 1928, in Guttenberg, son of Ferdinand and Melinda Kann Vogt.

Mr. Vogt was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and Korean War. He was a plumber and has been a member of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Union for 45 years.

Survived by a daughter, Sherri (Larry) Willard of Evansdale; two granchildren, Laura (Brian) McCraney of Sauk Rapids, Minn., and Matt (Amanda) Willard of Dubuque; and six great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers, Harold "Red," LaVerne, Raymond, Floyd and Gene.

There will be no services. Cremation Society of Iowa, Cedar Rapids, is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, 2101 Kimball Ave., Waterloo 50702.

Lloyd's fondest memories, beside his family and friends, was his service in the Navy, particularly on the aircraft carrier US Essex during the Korean War.
