[Waterloo Daily Reporter, Saturday, October 17, 1903, Waterloo, Iowa]

On Saturday [Oct. 10] occurred the death of Mr. Wm. Barry, one of our old settlers and a most respected citizen. Mr. Barry had been in poor health for some time and had been confined to his bed about six weeks.

Those left to mourn his loss are the wife and one daughter, Mrs. Theo. Webber, of Jesup, and two nieces, the Misses Carroll, besides a large circle of friends.

The funeral services were held Tuesday morning at Gilbertville, and the remains were interred in the Catholic cemetery at that place.

Mr. Barry was well-known in this vicinity, having lived here many years. He was an industrious man, a good neighbor and a kind friend. The sympathy of our people is extended to the sorrowing relatives and particularly to Mrs. Barry, who has just recently been called upon to part with a sister, making her grief doubly hard to bear.
