WATERLOO -- Ethel “Mae” (Luck) Milligan, 91, of Waterloo, formerly of Clarksville, Shell Rock and Janesville, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center, Waterloo.
She was born Aug. 16, 1922, in Butler County near Plainfield, daughter of G.B. and Ethel Blunt Luck. She married Harold Keith Milligan on Dec. 6, 1940, in Plainfield. He died July 9, 1995.
Mrs. Milligan attended country school near her home. During World War II, she worked for Chamberlain Manufacturing and later worked as a custodian for the University of Northern Iowa. In 1996, following her husband's death, she moved to Nashua and later to Independence. She was a member of Horton Baptist Church.
Survived by a daughter, Peggy Ann Stevenson of Independence; a son, David H. of Waterloo; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Charity Gunderson and Donna (Bob) Westerfelt.
Preceded in death by her husband; four brothers, Clarence, Jack, Tracy and Ralph Milligan; five sisters, Francis Strauser, Neoma Barna, Edna Strauser, Mabel Cagley and Keitha in infancy; and a great-great-grandson, Dylan.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Attending church services was special to Mae. She enjoyed singing and listening to country music. She loved kids, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grand- and great-grandchildren. Mae was also a very social people person.
