WATERLOO - Walter P. Boeke, 99, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.
He was born May 12, 1914, in Windsor, Colo., son of Edward and Ella "Mayme" Henderson Boeke. He married Burniece Gardner on Nov. 7, 1935, in Huron, S.D.; she died Jan. 7, 1987.
Mr. Boeke graduated from Wessington High School in South Dakota in 1933. He retired as branch manager of Borden Co. in 1976 after 33 years, then worked as maintenance supervisor at College Square Shopping Center until 1980. He served in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
Survived by a son, Jim (Linda) of McGregor; a daughter, Connie Boesen of Waterloo; a son-in-law, Terry Boesen of Waterloo; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Pearson, Rose Schultz and Dorothy Tedrow; and a brother, Alec Madsen.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Kearns Funeral Service – Kimball Chapel, preceded by an hour of visitation. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138, VFW Post 1623, and Iowa National Guard. Inurnment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Coggon.
