CEDAR FALLS — Eugene Richard Frey, 67, of 115 Main St., died Friday, June 13, 1997, at home of an apparent heart attack.

He was born March 4, 1930, in Butler County, son of Chauncey and Bena Schuermann Frey. He married Mary Beckman on April 11, 1955, in Waterloo. They were later divorced.

Mr. Frey served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired 1994 from the U.S. Postal Service, where he had been a rural mail carrier in Cedar Falls and Denver.

Survived by three daughters: Mary J. Allen of Des Moines, Laura M. Frey of St. Charles, Mo., and Carol J. Grooms of New Hartford; three grandchildren; his mother of Clarksville; and four sisters: LaVonne Vance of Clarksville, Judy Lindaman of Aplington, Linda Ewoldt of Belle Plaine and Sally Leuthold of Urbandale.

Preceded in death by an infant son, Richard.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial Greenwood Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Richardson Funeral Home, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m.

A memorial fund will be established.
