WATERLOO — Kathleen Marie Ambrosy, 66, of Waterloo, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics from injuries sustained in a car accident.

She was born Oct. 12, 1946, in Waterloo, daughter of Anthony and Rita Hoffman Dinnebier. She married Mike Ambrosy on May 9, 1969, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Waterloo.

Mrs. Ambrosy retired from a local grocery store and was a homemaker.

Survived by her husband; her parents; a son, Troy (Deann) of Readlyn; a daughter, Angela (Mike Olson) Ambrosy of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Lauren Ambrosy, Lane, Lucas and Liam Kahler; two brothers, Ron (Bev) Dinnebier of Raymond and Mark (Dorlene) Dinnebier of Waterloo; two sisters, Debra Dinnebier of Waterloo and Karen (Barry) Barryhill of Indianapolis.

Preceded in death by a daughter in infancy; her father-in-law, Joe Ambrosy; her mother-in-law, Emily Ambrosy; and a brother-in-law, Richard Ambrosy.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with inurnment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Gilbertville. Visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 7:30 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Honor Flight, Wounded Warriors or the family.

Woman Dies After Waterloo Crash

WATERLOO, Iowa - A Waterloo woman has died of injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash in Waterloo Thursday night.

According to Waterloo police reports, a vehicle driven by Kathleen M. Ambrosy, 66, was southbound on Kimball Avenue at 6:47 p.m. Thursday when a car westbound on Shaulis Road, driven by Travis Witt, 22, failed to stop for the stop sign at Kimball and was struck by Witt's car.

Ambrosy was taken to Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, then transferred to the intensive care unit University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She died Friday, Waterloo police said. A 7-year-old boy in her car was treated and released for minor injuries.

Witt wasn't hurt, but a 23-year-old male passenger in his car was treated and released.
