WATERLOO – Milton “Milt” E. Roth, 95, of Waterloo, died July 4, 2013, at the Cedar Valley Hospice of natural causes.

He was born Feb. 24, 1918, in Waterloo, son of Alvin and Adelia Koob Roth. He married DeVee Kimball on Sept. 26, 1940, and they later divorced. He then married Joan Pecenka on June 27, 1998.

Mr. Roth graduated from Waterloo East Waterloo High School in 1936. He attended watchmaking school in Peoria, Ill., and worked for his father in Waterloo, who founded Roth Jewelers in 1931. He was a veteran of World War II in the European Theater, then continued in the Army Reserves as First Lieutenant Ordnance Corps. In 1946 he joined his father in business at Roth Jewelers, where he spent the rest of his career. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, American Legion and the Gem Society.

Survived by his wife; a son, Richard (Julia) of Canyon Lake, Texas; a daughter, Dr. Roberta Roth (Richard Jones) of Cedar Falls; three stepsons, Steven Pecenka (Claire Andreasen) of Ames, Michael (Rhonda) Pecenka of Boone and Larry Pecenka of Bend, Ore.; a stepdaughter, Sandra (Gordon) Johnston of La Porte City; two stepgrandchildren, Jessica (Troy) Pecenka and Zacariah (Stephanie) Fliss; and a stepgreat-grandchild, Neela.

Preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Willard; and a sister, Betty Rosseland.

Celebration of Life: 4 p.m. Saturday at Park Place Centre, Cedar Falls. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Allen Hospital.
