Arthur V. Gruver, 72, of 1311 Avalon Avenue died at 12:30 p.m. yesterday at his home of heart disease and complications.

He was born May 2, 1875, at Monmouth, Illinois the son of Isaac and Sarah Gruver. He married Katherine Yockey, October 28, 1907 at Waterloo. For 22 years, Gruber was employed by the Logan Avenue Coal Company, and for the past four years was employed by the Rath Packing Company. He retired during the past year.

Survivors include his wife, four daughters, Mrs. Harry Carr, 1316 Avalon Avenue, Mrs. Harold Jensen 200 Duryea Street, Mrs. Merton Card route 5 of Waterloo, and Mrs. Harold Wilson, 424 Clay Street, three sons, Val, 2043 Plymouth Avenue, Othel, 1311 Dundee Avenue and Everett at home, three sisters Mrs. Forest Hughes, 1747 Easton Avenue, Mrs. George Syers, Independence, Iowa and Mrs. Hattie Hayward, Elk City, Oklahoma and one brother, Isham, 107 Center Street, Eighteen grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.

He was preceded in death by three sons, one sister and one brother.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body is at Parrott & Wood Funeral Home.
