ELK RUN HEIGHTS – Dale M. Jensen, 88, of Elk Run Heights, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospital Continuing Care, Cedar Rapids, from complications following a stroke.

He was born Feb. 14, 1925, in Voorhies, son of Carl and Almina Whannel Jensen. He married Anita Murray on April 28, 1956, in Erie, Ill. She died Jan. 25, 2002.

Mr. Jensen graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1943. He was a load/operator with Hawkeye Sand and Gravel for 11 years, retiring in 1989, and then continued to work part time for Thome Trucking, Raymond. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survived by a son, Ronald (Kathie) of Marion, Ill.; a stepson, Michael (Vicki) Thompson of Milwaukie, Ore.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Barbara) of Waterloo; a sister, Maxine Beck of Hudson; and a brother-in-law. Bernard Jensen of Hudson.

Preceded in death by a stepgrandson; three brothers, James, Don and Max; and a sister Jean Jensen.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo, with burial in Hudson Cemetery, Hudson. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
