WATERLOO — Johannah “Jo” Petersen, 75, of Waterloo, died Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at Parkview Nursing & Rehab Center of cancer.

She was born Sept. 7, 1937, in Rice Lake, Wis., daughter of Floyd and Mary Wetzel Gunderson. She married Clifford Chesmore. He died in 1988.

Mrs. Petersen worked for Hummel’s Restaurant until it closed, then worked as a bus driver for EPI until retiring. She was member of member of Queen of Peace Church.

Survived by a sister, Janet “Jan” Pond of Waterloo; a nephew, Kerry Pond; and five nieces, Kimberly Pond, Rosemary Olson, Kelly Crooks, Susie Betts and Sherry Heaton.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Lee Mortensen; a sister, Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Sommerfeld; a nephew, Michael Sommerfeld; and her grandmother, Susan “Nana” Wetzel.

Services: Her body has been cremated and inurnment will take place in Spooner, Wis.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Jo was a great lady with an encouraging spirit about her and one that loved with all her heart. Family was very important to her.
