WATERLOO - Melvin Frank Kriz, 79, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes.

He was born Oct. 4, 1927, in Clutier, son of Joseph and Christina Kadmus Kriz. He married Donna Leake Mott Jan. 16, 1971, in Mason City.

Mr. Kriz was employed as a construction worker for 49 years, retiring in November 1989. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army.

Survived by his wife; a stepson, Rick (Peggy) Mott of Waterloo; a stepdaughter, Deborah (Allen) Wolf of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren, Joshua (Sara) Wolf, Andrew Wolf, Jennifer (Troy) Oliver, C.J. Mott and Joseph Mott; seven great-grandchildren, Dilan Mott, Miara Oliver, Tiani Oliver, Chance Mott, Aiden Mott, Kirayla Mott and Noah Wolf; three brothers, Ludwig, Alfred and Franklin (Marcella), all of Clutier; and two sisters, Evelyn Carlson of Chelsea and Martha Breja of Vining.

Preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph (Betty), and one in infancy; a sister, Pauline, age 2; and two brothers-in-law, Donald Carlson and James Breja.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and 5 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
