Kathleen Kezar - Sheffield

Kathleen Jo Kezar, 60, of Sheffield, formerly of Waterloo, passed away Monday, December 23, 2013 at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, at Retz Funeral Home, Sheffield with Pastor Ken Nason of Cottage Community Church in Hubbard presiding. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Sheffield. Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 pm Friday at Retz Funeral Home, 203 Maple Street, Sheffield, Iowa.

Kathleen Jo Kezar was born May 7, 1953, in Waterloo, a daughter of Jack & Beverly (Bosley) Powell. She was educated in the Waterloo Public School. After completing school Kathleen was married and 4 daughters were born; Shelly, Karrie, Megan and Lindsay.

For the last 20 years Kathleen has enjoyed her companion Doug Foell. They have lived in Sheffield and she worked for the Sheffield Care Center for 13 years.

Kathleen was a people person who truly enjoyed life. She centered her life around her daughters and family. Kathleen loved electronic games and visiting the casinos. She could strike up a friendship with nearly anyone at any time.

Left to cherish her memory are her companion: Doug Foell, Sheffield; daughters: Shelly Shaver (Wes Webb) Eldora, Iowa; Karrie Thompson, Whitten, Iowa; Megan (Nick) Ries, Sheffield; Lindsay Kezar, Hubbard; grandchildren: Sam & Gary Vanderah, Mackenzie Shaver Marissa Rolinson, Alexis & Trent Gohring, Hailey & Lucas Ries; brothers: Virg (Betty) Powell, Waterloo; Rick (Carrie) Powell, Evansdale; Skip Powell, Waterloo; Sister-in-law: Barb Powell, Cedar Falls; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jack Powell Jr. and grandson Dustin Shaver.
