CEDAR FALLS — Clyde Melick, 96, of the Cedar Falls Western Home, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at Martin Health Center of Western Home Community.

He was born March 17, 1917, in Hazleton, son of Roy E. and Mary Quinn Melick. He married Evelyn Ione McNelly on Aug. 22, 1936, in Waterloo. She died Feb. 26, 2010.

Mr. Melick worked as quality control manager at Chamberlain Manufacturing Co., retiring in 1979 after 43 years. He was a member of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church.

Survived by a son, David (Mary) of Waterloo; a daughter, Kathy (Patrick) Joyce of Evansdale; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; two sisters, Evelyn (LaVerne) Johnson of Walla Walla, Wash., and Lorraine Raine of Waterloo; and three brothers, Eugene of Vallejo, Calif., Paul (Irene) of Waterloo and Gaile (Judy) of Burlington, Wis.

Preceded in death by a son, Michael; three sisters, Margaret Sweet, Grace Reeves and Lucinda Padget; and four brothers, Roy, Richard, Harry and Stewart.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
