WATERLOO — Helena E. Cavanaugh, 90, of Waterloo, died Saturday, June 25, 2005 at Covenant Medical Center.

She was born Oct 20, 1914, in Eagle Center, daughter of Theodore and Helena Siebel Schaefer. She married Earl F. Cavanaugh on Jan. 24, 1940, at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Eagle Center.

Mrs. Cavanaugh was a graduate of St. Mary of Mount Carmel High School. She assisted in the kitchen at Knights of Columbus for 23 years.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Marilyn Rasmussen of Waterloo; a grandson, Brad T. Rasmussen of Peach Tree City, Ga.; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a son-in-law, Glen Rasmussen; five brothers. Clement, Theodore, Peter, Lawrence and Joseph; and two sisters, Catherine Steimel, and Frances Schaefer in infancy.

Services: 11 am Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Monsignor Paul Steimel presiding. Entombment will be in Mount Olivet Mausoleum. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. Catholic Daughters of the Americas rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church.
