Mrs. James H. McDonald, 85 Oelwein, a former Waterloo resident, will be buried Tuesday in Alcock Cemetery, Frederika Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in tin Methodist Church, Frederika.

Mrs. McDonald died Saturday at 1 a.m. in Grandview Nursing Home, Oelwein, where she had been admitted in August following hospitalization in Allen Memorial Hospital for a broken hip.

The former Ella Ladd, she was born in Horton, June 26, 1880, the daughter of William and Mary Douglas Ladd. She attended Plainfield and Waveriy high schools and taught school in Iowa and Minnesota for 10 years.

She was married to James H. McDonald on April 3, 1907, in Frederika, where they were enaged in farming for many years. A former Waverly resient, Mrs. McDonald lived in Long Beach, Calif., for 10 years ater her husband's death in 1945. Mrs. McDonald had also lived in Waterloo with her daughter, Mrs. Bernard Harper, Fayette, a former resident of 116 West 3rd St.

She is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Wills, San Pedro, Calif., and Mrs. David MacNicoll, Madison, Wis.; four granddaughters, three grandsons, and 15 great-grandchildren.
