WATERLOO - Clayton D. Wilson, 77, of Waterloo, died Monday, June 1, 2009, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

He was born Nov. 17, 1931, in Cainsville, Mo., son of Delbert O. and Lois C. McLain Wilson. He married Esther Cox on Feb. 15, 1976, in Rock Island, Ill.

Mr. Wilson was employed as a tool and die maker at John Deere and Co. for more than 33 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Celebration First Assembly of God Church and also was an accomplished guitar player and songwriter.

Survived by his wife; five sons: Clayton "Bud" (Terri) Wilson Jr. of Cainsville, Mark (Roxy) Wilson of La Crosse, Wis., Tim (Mary) Charles of Cincinnati, Ohio, Zack (Roseanne) Rinker of Slidell, La., and Frank (Scott Hans) Rinker of Chicago; six daughters: Karen (Sid) McKenna of Cape Coral, Fla., Linda Wilson, Debra (Jeff) Smith and Mea (Mike) Facciani, all of Waterloo, Sharon (Troy) Noble of Dauphin Island, Ala., and Mandy (Bruce) Adair of Grundy Center; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Melvin "Bud" of Evansdale; and three sisters, Helen Francis and Evelyn (Johnny) Cain, both of Bethany, Mo., and Shirley (Harold "Curly") Mattson of Winsted, Minn.

Preceded in death by: three brothers, Lawrence, Norman and Larry; five sisters, Katherine Sparks, Vera Thompson, Carol Francis, Charlotte Wilson and Vivian Sweerin; and three grandsons.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Celebration First Assembly of God Church, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball and an hour before services Thursday at the church.
