Services for Leo M. Shannon, 56, of 410 Center St., will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial in the Garden of Memories. He died Sunday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City.

Mr. Shannon was born March 12, 1929, in Monte, son of Matthew and Nellie Sheeley Shannon. He married Joyce McCunniff Sept. 7, 1953.

He worked at Rath Packing Co. for 36 years, retiring when the plant closed last January. He served in the Army in Alaska during the Korean War.

Military rites will be conducted at his funeral by the Becker-Chapman Post 138 American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Kim Holien, Kelly and Kathy Shannon, all of Waterloo; four grandchildren; and a sister, Loretta Brandt of Waverly.

There will be a parish rosary service at 7 p.m. today at O'Keefe & Towne/Carter & Waychoff Funeral Home, where friends may call after 4 p.m. today.
