CEDAR FALLS — Charles P. Helt, 84, of Mission, Texas, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Friday, Dec. 28, 1990, of natural causes at Mission Hospital, Mission, Texas.

He was born Dec. 8, 1906, in Walsh County, N.D., son of Joseph and Anna Swartz Helt. He married Ruth Volkl Aug. 13, 1939, in St. Paul, Minn. She died in May 1970. He married Wilma Monler Aug. 16, 1973, in Grundy Center. She died Oct. 9, 1989.

Before his retirement in 1971, he was a partner in the H & S Lumber Co. in Cedar Falls.

Survivors include a son, James of Oakland, Calif.; two daughters, Rebecca Pace of Hudson and Joni Johnson of Decorah; four grandchildren; Five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elizabeth Thomas of Sacramento, Calif., Alice Rudolf of St. Paul, Minn., and Margaret Wittmer of Brownsville, Texas.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and William; and two sisters, Eleanor and Minnie.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Fails, where there will be a Scripture service at 7 p.m., and from 9 to iO a.m. Wednesday at the church.
