WATERLOO - Larry D. Dierks, 63, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, after a brief illness.

He was born May 13, 1942, in Marshalltown, son of Herbert and Marian Schlueter Dierks. He married Shirley Steen on Feb. 12, 1977, in Evansdale.

Mr. Dierks retired from John Deere in 1998 after 34 years of service.

Survived by his wife; a stepson, Dana Steen of Oelwein; a daughter, Sherri (Derek) Leyen of Waterloo; two grandchildren; a brother, Michael (Joyce) of Waterloo; and a sister, Marsha (Jerry) Gates of Hammond, Ind.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and for an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.
