WATERLOO - Edwin J. Larson, 85, of Tipton, formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, following a lengthy illness.

He was born Aug. 17, 1920, in Earlville, son of Edwin Francis and Clara Ann Nemmers Larson. He married Jean Elizabeth Jones on May 24, 1947, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waterloo. She died Aug. 13, 2001.

Mr. Larson graduated from St. Mary's High School and was employed as a union plumber for Johnson Controls. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include a son, David (Julie) of Tipton; three grandchildren; and a brother, Bob Larson of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by a son, Dennis; five brothers, Robert, Harold, Donald, Raymond and James Eugene; and three sisters, Lucille Haffa, Delores Brown and Mildred Rechtfertig.

Services: were 10:30 a.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton, with graveside committal services at 2:30 p.m. in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Waterloo. Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, is in charge of arrangements.
