WATERLOO - Wilma R. Nelson, 73, of Waterloo, died at home Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, of natural causes.

She was born Nov. 23, 1933, in Lawler, Wyo., daughter of Fred and Irene Case Pearson. She married Dean A. Kerns in Waterloo in 1952. They were later divorced. She then married Grover C. Nelson in November 1978 in Rock Springs, Wyo. He died Aug. 22, 1992.

Mrs. Nelson was retired from the F.W. Woolworth Store in Rock Springs, having worked in sales and management. She also was a member of Rock Springs Moose Club and was an office holder in the Waterloo Eagles.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Kerns of Waterloo; three daughters, Deena (Ken) Biretz of Lake Mills, Laurel Kerns of Felt, Idaho, and Connie (Jim) Grams of Irene, S.D.; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Darlene (Joe) Sassatelli of Urbandale and Hilda (Burt) Newgard of Cedar Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Kent Pearson; and a sister, Wanda Brasher.

Private family graveside services Friday at Waterloo Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 202 E. First St., Waterloo, starting at 3 p.m. Friday. Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball is in charge of arrangements.
