Services for Louise Thornton, 91, of 717 W. Third St., will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Blessing Cemetery. A rosary service will be 7:30 p.m. Sunday and a Scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Oppold Funeral Home, where friends may call after 6 p.m. today. She died Saturday morning at St. Francis Hospital.

She was born Oct. 1, 1893, near Blessing, the daughter of John and Ellen McBride Hayes. She married Walter M. Thornton Sr. Feb 5,1920, in Blessing. He died Sept. 19, 1943. She taught at rural schools in Black Hawk and Tama counties before her marriage.

Survivors include three sons, Dr. Walter of Waterloo, Leo J. of Clovis, N. M., and Dr. Frank of Long Beach, Calif.; and two daughters, Mrs. Rosemarie Mindt of Lakewood, Calif, and Theresa Kingsbury of Neilsville, Wis.; 21 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Catherine Conry of Waterloo.

Besides being preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Helen; and a son, Thomas H.

Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Blessing.
