Waterloo Soldier
Dies While on Sea

Private Lee H. Leckington is another of Waterloo's soldier boys to fall a victim to pneumonia while serving his country. News of his death, which occurred Oct. 1, while en route overseas, was received last night by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Leckington, 327 La Porte road.

Disposition of his body, which is going returned to the United States, was asked, and the parents' reply was that it be sent to Waterloo for burial.

Private Leckington was born in Waterloo. Feb. 7. 1892. He had lived here practically all of his life and prior to entering service was employed by the W., C. F. & N. He left Waterloo last July with the contingent for Camp Pike, Ark. Several weeks later he was transferred to an eastern camp and then across. He was a member of Co. 13, S. A. R. D. Last Saturday the parents received a card stating that the boat on which their son sailed had arrived at an overseas port.

Surviving the young soldier are his parents, three brothers, Carl, who is with the A. E. F. in France; Lewis and Charles, of Waterloo; and two sisters, Mrs. Roy Hubbard, Winthrop, and Miss Martha, at home.
