Roger G. Syndergaard was born August 4, 1927, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Earl S. and Viola M. (Nielsen) Syndergaard. He was united in marriage to Patty A. Mully on February 23, 1957, in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

He graduated from Iowa State Teachers College High School in 1945 and then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

As a youth, Roger farmed with his parents and following his military service was employed by Waterloo Register for many years and retiring from the Cedar Falls Municipal Utilities in 1991.

Surviving Roger are his wife; two sons, John (Mary) of Waterloo, Iowa, Steven of St. Paul, Minnesota; two daughters, Suzanne (John) Jermier of Cape Coral, Florida, and Karen (Lance) Hanson of Shawnee, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Scott Syndergaard, Tony Syndergaard, Tyler Jermier, Hunter Jermier, Holden Syndergaard, Jacob Hanson, Benjamin Hanson and Grace Hanson; a sister, Virginia Shreve of Cedar Falls; special niece and nephew, Char (Jess) Dapena of Bloomington, Indiana and Jerry Shreve of Santa Barbara, California; and many other nieces and nephews.

Roger died Friday, November 2, 2007, in Waterloo, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
