John Krieger, 77, 431 Florence Street, pensioned Illinois Central Railroad machinist died Monday at 8:50 p.m. at his home of hardening of the arteries. He has been ill for two days. Krieger had resided in Waterloo for the past 37 years.

He was born in Hessen, Germany Dec. 17, 1855, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Krieger. He came to the United States in 1865 and was married to Marie Dicke in Sioux City May 21, 1889. He was pensioned from the Illinois Central here in 1926. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his widow, three sons: Henry, Brewster, Minn.; Arthur, at home, and Erich, Iowa Falls; and one daughter, Miss Elsie Krieger, at home.

The body was taken to the Hileman & Gindt Funeral Home.
