Mrs. Bessie Knode, 77, former Waterloo resident, died at 6 a.m. Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John P. Joyce, Omaha, Nebraska.

She was born Bessie Hoyt Dec. 6, 1972*, at Clarence, Iowa, the daughter of Ephram and Addie Hoyt, and was married to John S. Knode at Toledo, Iowa.

Mrs. Knode has made her home with her daughter since 1936, moving there from Waterloo. She was a member of the Congregational Church and the Royal Neighbors society.

Survivors include four sons: Otto, Estherville, Iowa, Lee, Des Moines, Elmer, 115 Beck Avenue and Neil, Ottumwa; one daughter, Mrs. Joyce; two sisters, Mrs. Henry Roselle, Inglewood, Cal., and Mrs. Cora Howell, Detroit, Mich.; and one brother, M. B. Hoyt, Maxwell, Iowa. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one son.

The body will arrive in Tama, Iowa Tuesday afternoon and will be brought to Kearns Garden Chapel. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
