Military funeral services by the Waterloo VFW Post 1623 for Carl Nelson Jacks, 64, of 1140 Prospect Blvd., will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Kaiser-Corson Chapel, Cedar Falls, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. He died Sunday (June 26, 1988) in Waterloo.

He was born May 27, 1924, in St. Louis, son of Carl N. and Flora Alden Jacks. He attended grade school and Sequim High School in Bellingham, Wash.

He served with the U.S. Navy from 1942 until 1947 in San Francisco. In 1948, he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he spent the next 31 years. During this time he served three tours of duty in Vietnam.

He married Brenda Neal on June 30, 1972, in Sault St. Marie, Mich. After retiring from the Air Force on Aug. 1,1979, he and his wife moved to Waterloo where they began the C. B. Trucking Co.

Survivors include his wife; six daughters: Debra Gesie of Waterloo, Dawn Jacks at home, Dreama Foster of Evansdale, Marie Jacks of San Antonio, Texas, Susan Fritsche of Cantonment, Fla., and Jennifer Lappe of Waterloo; a son, William Jacks of Ogden, Utah; 12 grandchildren; and a sister, Eloise Eastburn of Delaware State.

Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. until, services Thursday at the funeral home, 204 W. Seerley Blvd., Cedar Falls.
