Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Edward's Catholic Church for Joseph Stefan, 86, of 807 Reber Ave., who died at 6:10 p.m. Monday at home of complications of age. There will be a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Oppold Funeral Home.

Mr. Stefan was born Sept. 10, 1884, at Rautenberg, Austria, the son of Ignaz and Aolisia Schittenhelm Stefan, and came to Waterloo in 1908. He met Margaretta Koch in Waterloo and they returned to Rautenberg to be married on June 16, 1910.

A cabinet maker by trade, Mr. Stefan was employed by the Herrick Refrigeration Company from the time he came to Waterloo until he retired in December, 1953. He was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Louis Kuriger of 811 Reber Ave., one son, John Stefan of 1313 Lyon St., six grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and one sister.

Funeral services for Joseph Stefan, 86, of 807 Reber Ave. who died Monday will be a 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Edward's Catholic Church with the Rev. C. J. Raker, pastor officiating, Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, parish rosary is. set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Oppold Funeral Home.
