WATERLOO — Larry James Braniff, 73, of Houston, Minn., died Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Caledonia Care and Rehab, Houston.

He was born Sept. 15, 1939, in Waterloo, son of Frank D. and Margarette Heinel Braniff. On March 16, 1963, he married Charlotte F. Happel.

Mr. Braniff graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1957 and served in the U.S. Navy in the Mediterranean on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. He worked for Viking Pump Co., Cedar Falls, until 1965, then went to work as an auditor for John Deere, retiring in 1998. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Waterloo, and then of South Ridge United Methodist Church, Houston.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Frank of Waterloo and Marc of Rochester, Minn.; two daughters, Bonnie (John) Garbes of Cedar Rapids and Nicole of Waterloo; several grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Terry (Steffi).

Memorial services 11 a.m. Saturday at South Ridge United Methodist Church, burial in Loretta Cemetery, both in Houston. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service, Houston, and an hour before services Saturday at church.
