WATERLOO — Francis Carrol “Cag” Cagley, 92, of Harpers Ferry, formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at Thornton Manor Care Center, Lansing.

He was born Jan. 12, 1921, in Osakis, Minn., son of Levi “Glenn” and Anna Olsen Cagley. He married Marcella Kremer on Sept. 21, 1946, in Independence. She died July 16, 1982. He then married Verna Reikers in September 1984 in Phoenix.

Mr. Cagley graduated from Minneapolis Industrial High School in 1938, then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He worked as a sheet metal worker, and was the general manager for Union Plumbing and Sheet Metal, Waterloo, for 37 years, retiring in 1983. He moved to Harpers Ferry and mowed lawns for the Department of Natural Resources until last year. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Harpers Ferry.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Deborah (Kim) Volker of Lansing and Victoria (Mark) O’Brien of Evansdale; three sons, Michael (Deborah) of Brandon, Thomas (Cindy) of Cedar Falls and William (Bonnie) of St. Paul, Minn.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four stepchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; a stepson, Larry Joe Allen; a sister, Corrine Bowles; and a brother, Edward.

Celebration of Life gathering: 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday at Harpers Ferry American Legion Hall, with military rites at 2 p.m. by Harpers Ferry American Legion Scenic Post 722. Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Lansing, is assisting the family with arrangements.
