WATERLOO — Gene Lionel Terry, 87, of Waterloo, died at home Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013.

He was born April 14, 1926, in Fordland, Mo., son of Edgar and Pearl Terrill Terry. He married Nancy A. Lang on July 12, 1969, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. She died March 4, 2013.

Mr. Terry attended many country schools while growing up. He served with occupational forces in Japan at the end of World War II and had worked for more than 32 years in the foundry at John Deere, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Central Christian Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, UAW Local 838 and had previously bowled on a league for more than 20 years.

Survived by a daughter, Renae of Waterloo; a sister, Lucille Terry; and a brother-in-law, Jerry (Bernie) Lang of Lake Placid, Fla.

Preceded in death by a son, Craig; and three brothers, William, Doris and Allen.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and Waterloo AMVETS Post 19

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Gene had a beautiful soul and a heart of gold. His infectious smile and warmth will missed by all who knew him.
