WATERLOO — Edith Goldsmith Luders, 89, of Ames, formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at Riverside Manor South, Ames.

She was born Nov. 16, 1923, in Manchester, daughter of Truman and Elizabeth Heiserman Goldsmith. In 1941 she married Arthur Rippey. He died in 1943. She married Malvin Kuehne in 1944, and they later divorced. She later married Vergal Luders in 1967. He died in 2003.

Mrs. Luders owned and operated many restaurants in Waterloo and Mesa, Ariz. She received her food service education at Iowa State University and had worked as a food service manager for several nursing homes and hospitals. She was a member of North Grand Christian Church.

Survived by three sons, Arthur (Lisa) Rippey of Longwood, Fla., Tony (Cindy) Luders of Mesa and David (Chris) Luders of Lihue, Hawaii; a daughter, Judy (Randy) Covey of Ames; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Petitt.

Services: 10 a.m. Friday at North Grand Christian Church, Ames, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial and committal services at 2:30 p.m. in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Stevens Memorial Chapel, Ames, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the church.
