CEDAR FALLS - Helen M. Carlson, 86, of Cedar Falls, died at home Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006.

She was born May 5, 1919, in Fairfax, daughter of Charles and Frances Skotola Earsa. She married Clair W. "Swede" Carlson on Oct. 8, 1940, in Cedar Rapids. He died July 11, 1999.

Mrs. Carlson was a housekeeper for many families in Cedar Falls before her retirement.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen L. (Dick) Phillips of Waterloo; a son, Roger C. of Cedar Falls; a grandchild; a brother, John E. (Maryanne) Earsa of Fairfax; and a sister, Anna Hasek of Hiawatha.

Preceded in death by a brother, Bill Earsa.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Richardson Funeral Home, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with family present 5 to 7 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to Hawkeye Valley Agency on Aging or the Alzheimer's Association.
