WATERLOO—Sarah '"Sadie" Susan Porter, 90, of 315 Walnut St., Apt 203, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes.

She was born Sept. 20, 1910, in Canton, Minn., daughter of Joseph and Alice Kelly Armstrong. She married Walter Stanley Porter on July 2, 1938, in Battle Creek, Mich. He died Aug. 16,1979.

Mrs. Porter graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing, Mason City, in 1932. She was a supervisor and registered nurse at Leila Hospital, Battle Creek, Mich., for 30 years, retiring in 1967.

Survived by two sons, Michael of Virginia Beach, Va., and Patrick of Waterloo; three daughters, Amie Noverr of Anchorage, Alaska, Louise Youngblut of La Porte City and Teresa Corcoran of Fairbank; 28 grandchildren and 27 greatgrandchildren; two brothers, Loren Armstrong of Waterloo and Berchmans Armstrong of Atkins; and two sisters, Ruth Kapler and Loma Snyder, both of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Bridget; a son, Wm. "JR" Porter; and three brothers, Raymond, Bert and Patrick Armstrong.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 3 p.m. Catholic Daughters of America rosary, a 6 p.m. parish rosary, and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
