Services for William C. Sallis Sr., 87, of 339 Adams St., will be 1 p.m. Friday at Antioch Baptist Church with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Mr. Sallis died Tuesday at Allen Memorial Hospital.

He was born Jan. 12, 1898, in Kosciusko, Miss., son of Columbus and Elizabeth Carr Sallis. He married Clara J. Phillips Dec. 24, 1917 in Kosciusko.

He was a self-employed blacksmith for 42 years and also worked for Denman-Phillips Construction for 15 years.

Survived by his wife; four sons: Quentin, Richard and Hubert, all of Chicago, and Houston of 812 Beech St.; a daughter, Kelly Sallis of 339 Adams St.; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, William Sallis Jr.

Friends may call at Kearns-Dykeman Chapel from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday.
