EVANSDALE, IOWA - Marilyn Locke, 77, of Evansdale, died Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Unity Point Health Allen Hospital.

She was born May 14, 1936 in Bluff Creek Township in Monroe County, daughter of Earl W. and Grace I. (Walker) Smith. She married Vernon Locke on January 2, 1957 in Evansdale.

She worked as custodian for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a homemaker throughout her adult life.

Survived by: her husband of Evansdale; three sons, William (Melody) of Cedar Falls, Larry (Vicky) of Independence and Jerry (Lyn) of Evansdale; five grandchildren: Heather (Kendall) Kane, Tim Locke, Austin and Jessica Locke, Lisa Locke; four great-grandchildren: Megan and Nick Locke, Kelly and Hayley Kane; and three brothers, Duane and Delmar Smith, both of Evansdale and Edwin (Maggie) Smith of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: two sisters, Barbara Strelow and Shirley Smith; a brother, Richard Smith; and a grandson, Michael Locke.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Waterloo Ward, with burial in Hillside Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Richardson Funeral Service and also for one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
