Catherine Winsett Howery, wife of J. M. Howery, was born in Indiana, Feb. 22, 1841, and with her parents removed to this country in 1852. She was united in marriage with J. M. Howery in April,
1860.

Six children were the result of this union; two of thein died in infancy, one had reached womanhood when called away. The three children left to mourn their mother's death are: John M. Howery, Lake Charles, La., J. B. Howery, now a teacher in the Westside High School, and Mrs. George F. Garyin. At the age of eighteen, she united with the church and since that time she has lived an active and consistent Christian life,

At the funeral services Rev. J. A. Earl, of the First Baptist church, delivered the sermon.
