WATERLOO — Willis K. Miller, 86, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born July 2, 1927, in Shelby, son of Clyde Everett and Addie Kern Miller. He married Connie M. Persons on Feb. 7, 1953, in Waterloo. She died April 15, 2010.

Mr. Miller graduated from Shelby High School and also Gates Business College. He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II and also served overseas during the Korean Conflict. He worked for John Deere in the accounting department for 31 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the John Deere Supervisors Club and was of the Presbyterian faith.

Survived by a friend, Dixie Heiser of Waterloo; two daughters-in-law, Wanda Miller of Kingsville, Texas, and Connie Miller of Lebanon, Mo.; four grandchildren, including Jody McIntosh of Kingsville; 10 great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Mark Persons of Cedar Rapids.

Preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Michael A. and Donald L.; two brothers, Lowell and Willard; and a sister, Naomi McBride.

Private family graveside services: Saturday at Waterloo Cemetery, with full military rites by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138, Sullivan Brothers VFW Post 1623 and the U.S. Marine Corps Honors Detail. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kearns Funeral Service, Kimball Chapel.

Memorials may be directed to the Sullivan-Hartogh-Davis Post 730 Honor Flight or to the family.
