Services for O.B. "Slim" Holmes, 80, of 1435 Washington St., will be 2 p.m. Friday at Falls Avenue Funeral Chape! with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery Mr. Holmes died Tuesday morning at Schoitz Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 11, 1899, at Piainfield son of Frank and Hattie Potter Holmes
He married Pauline Pickard Sept. 14, 1921 in Graham, Texas. He was the bakery manager at the Ridgeway Super-Valu for 10 years, retiring in 1963.Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Diehm of 506 Hammond Ave.; a son; Gerald of Huntington Beach, Calif.; two brothers, C.W. of 908 Grant Ave. and Melvin of 1650 Ackerman St.; three sisters, Mrs. Leah Mclntosh of 426 Cutler St., Miss Ethel Holmes of 106 Anita St and Mrs. Florence Lauzon of 428 Dawson St.; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday until 9 p.m., Thursday from noon until 9 p.m. and Friday until service time. Martin Lodge 624 AF It AM will conduct Masonic services after services at the funeral chapel.
