Services for Roy A. Kies, 70, of 4536 Koff Road, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Edward's Catholic Church with entombment in the Mount Olivet Mausoleum.

A parish rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the Oppold Funeral Home, where friends may call after 5 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be given in his name to Columbus High School or to the heart fund.

Mr. Kies died Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn., during heart surgery.

He was born Dec. 23, 1908, in Jesup, son of Joseph and Susie Shilling Kies. He married Beverly J. Collentine April 22, 1935, in Waterloo. He worked at Rath Packing Company until his retirement in 1974 and was a long-time president and board member of the Rath Employees Credit Union.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tom of 541 Sunset Road, and Michael of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; four daughters: Mrs. Mary Ann Krickeberg of San Jose, Calif., Mrs. Patricia Rausenberger of Clinton, Mrs. Kathleen Bowersox of Cedar Rapids, and Ginni Kies of San Luis Obispo; three grandchildren; a brother, Roland of Santa Maria, Calif.; and a sister, Mrs. Lorena Gleason of Eden Prairie, Minn.
