Donald M. Lantz was born September 24, 1923, in Frederick, Maryland, the son of Norman Charles and Ethel Marie (Rinehart) Lantz. He was a 1941 graduate of Frederick High School.

He was united in marriage to Dorothy Louise Martin in Walkersville, Maryland on May 4, 1946. She died March 3, 1999.

Don served in the United States Army during World War II in the Aircraft Gun Battalion on Hawaii, Leyte and Okinawa. He was employed by the U.S. Army Medical Research Command at Ft. Detrick, MD from 1951-63 and 1973-83 and NASA Lewis Plum Brook Research Center at Sandusky, OH from 1963-73, retiring in 1983. He had been a member of NARFE in Frederick, Maryland. He served as Treasurer for Chapter 409.

Survived by his daughter, Kay Lorraine (Neal) Leeper of Cedar Falls; two grandchildren, William Alex (Connie) Leeper of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Patricia Lynn (Neal) Westin of Des Moines, Iowa; seven great grandchildren; and a sister, Jacqueline Reeder of Frederick, Maryland.

Don died Saturday, June 30, 2007 at Western Home Communities Windhaven in Cedar Falls.

Preceding him in death were his wife; one brother, Charles N. Lantz; and a sister, Norma Jean Englebrecht.
